ZF India Partners with CV OEM to Supply 9-Speed Transmissions for High-Power Trucks

Pune: In a significant development for India’s commercial vehicle sector, ZF India has entered a strategic business partnership with a prominent domestic Commercial Vehicle (CV) OEM to supply thousands of 9-speed manual (EcoMid) and automated manual transmission (EcoTronic Mid) systems for trucks in the >300 HP category.

This collaboration includes the supply of ZF’s advanced EcoMid and EcoTronic Mid transmissions, designed specifically for heavy trucks exceeding 25 tonnes, with engine torque capacities in the 1300–1500 Nm range.

These transmission solutions will be manufactured at ZF India’s state-of-the-art Chakan facility in Pune, supporting the company’s “Make in India for India” initiative.

  • EcoMid: Suitable for CVs with gross vehicle weights up to 55 tonnes
  • 9-speed transmission in direct drive or overdrive versions
  • Delivers smoother shifts, improved fuel efficiency, and extended clutch life
  • Compatible with various CV platforms and optimized to reduce driver fatigue
